From Sicily to Downtown, Mamabella Dubai Has Officially Opened its Doors

The heart of Sicily now beats in Downtown Dubai, as Mamabella Dubai officially opens its doors at Kempinski The Boulevard. Conceived as both a restaurant and a living archive of Italian heritage, Mamabella Dubai brings to life the flavors, traditions, and soul of Italy through the vision of acclaimed chef Alessandro Miceli.

For Alessandro, Mamabella Dubai is more than a restaurant – it is the culmination of a story that began decades ago, in a Sicilian kitchen where a young boy stood on a stool beside his mother, learning the rhythms of food, family, and love. That boy was Alessandro himself, whose earliest memories are of cooking for his family, guided by her steady hands and unwavering devotion. Today, the story comes full circle as his very own mother will be the first of many Italian “Nonnas” to join him in Dubai, cooking side by side with her son and passing on the spirit of Cucina della Mamma to Mamabella’s guests. Each month, the restaurant will welcome a new grandmother from Sicily, who will fly in to share her own recipes and rituals – making the restaurant not just a dining space, but a cultural bridge, where generations of Italian women bring their kitchens, their stories, and their love to the tables of Dubai.

Mamabella’s culinary offering is as heartfelt as it is ambitious. The menu, carefully crafted by Chef Alessandro, celebrates Italy’s timeless traditions while embracing the sophistication of Dubai’s dining scene. Guests are welcomed with a freshly baked Sicilian bread basket, accompanied by a striking olive branch tree adorned with olives, served alongside sundried tomato paste and Chef Alessandro’s homemade ricotta. From there, the journey unfolds across Italy’s coastal and inland flavors:

Fresh pasta made in-house daily, prepared in full view of the dining room using machinery imported from Italy, then pulled straight into the pan and onto the plate. Crudi di Pesce – delicate raw seafood such as Sea Bass carpaccio, Gambero Rosso, and the Torre di Mare. Crudi di Carne, from Angus tartare to beef carpaccio, celebrating the Italian art of raw meat dishes.

Secondi di Mare such as Branzino al Sale (oven-baked sea bass in a salt crust) and Polpo alla Griglia (chargrilled octopus). Secondi di Carne, including Costine Wagyu – 72-hour slow-cooked short ribs and Agnellino, baby lamb slow-roasted Sicilian-style for 5- 7 hours, the first of its kind in the UAE. Diners can order their preferred cuts, from shoulder to leg, in true rustic tradition.

A Pizzaiolo program featuring extra-crispy pizzas, the Sicilian specialty pizzolo (a stuffed flatbread), and scrocchiarella, a thin Roman-style pizza with long fermentation for a shatter-crisp crust. A fresh oyster and seafood bar, seafood grills, and indulgent touches such as lobster and caviar, reflecting Mamabella’s balance of accessibility and luxury. No Italian table is complete without dolci: classic Tiramisu, Sicilian Cannoli, Baba, Delizia al limone, and Alessandro’s nostalgic Grandmother’s cake of the day, a tribute to family kitchens across Italy.

Every evening, Mamabella comes alive with the vibrance of Sicily, complete with traditional entertainment – from dancers to live instruments and the iconic tarantella – as flower petals rain across the room. The interiors echo the warmth of Mediterranean homes, blending high ceilings and dark woods with lush greenery and earthy beige tones. At its heart is a see-through glass kitchen, where guests can watch Chef Alessandro and his team at work. For those seeking a more intimate experience, a private dining kitchen with a panoramic view of the Burj Khalifa hosts up to 12 guests for exclusive cooking classes led by the visiting Nonnas.

Guests can cook, learn, and dine together – transforming Mamabella into a school of life as much as a restaurant. Mamabella is not simply another Italian restaurant. It is a love letter to Italy’s mothers, a place where tradition and innovation meet, and where food is inseparable from memory, emotion, and culture.
